Our friend Marshall is an amazing snowboarder -- he likes to take us "Skill Building" expeditions, in which we ski in deep powder in tight trees and try to enjoy it and not get injured! There is VERY deep powder in the trees when the runs have 6 inches, so you have to be on top of your game! Luckily, we are all good skiers, and those of us who had older skinny skies bought FAT skis that skim over the top of powder. (My friend Melissa and I had always thought we just weren't as good skiers as the boys -- Turns out we just needed fatter skis!!) 
In another "Skill Building" expedition we hiked up to Outer Mongolia -- if you look on page 2 of this trail map, you take Chair 21 up to the Mongolia surface lift (22), then hike up another 25 minutes or so (carrying your skis...you have to earn this one...) 
If you are willing to persevere, you are rewarded with breathtaking views, and on this day, completely untracked powder. Even with the fat skis, it takes a lot of work for the quads to navigate down (In the words of Ron Burgundy, "It's a deep burn!") -- But definitely worth it. Here is a shot of the long-term members of the (self-appointed) KU-Med Ski Club at the top, after hiking, but still smiling because we're about to get our reward: going down!
Here are your very serious medical professionals (and one lawyer, and one engineer) at their best. Old friends are the best. :) (Editor's note -- composed on March 15...so last week means early March. We didn't have a day like this the last week of March, although we hear that while we were in KS this first weekend of April there was some big pow at Vail!)
