Thiessen Visit, Part 1

Just a necessary shot of how happy and loved Duke is back in Kansas...we miss him so much!!!

Gorgeous sunrise while landing in Auckland before they jumped on their flight to Wanganui...Great weather for their travels!

I just realized that I posted this one when they arrived, but here were are the morning of their arrival in our back yard in Wanganui. As you can see, they travelled on a day of clear weather and could see all around the North Island from the airplane.

Since they had been travelling and eating airplane food we thought they'd appreciate a homemade brunch instead of eating out. Lyle swears he loved his "Omelet-Burrito-Egg-Thungy" at the end of their flight, but we whipped up some scrambled eggs, toast with a spread of jams from the farmers' market...and a load of fresh fruit in season here. A big treat when it's snowing in Kansas!

Later that day, Patrick planned to wow them with his new-found fish making skills. (Olive oil, lemon pepper, 2 minutes each side...don't be tempted to mess with the formula...) We went to the fish shop where you can pick out fresh fish to take home and cook, or pick out your fresh fish that they will then batter-and-fry in front of you...Yum! There was quite the line on this day, but we got our fish and ran. We let them take a little nap, too -- The only sign of even a hint of jet lag either of them ever showed!!
