Pura Vida (Wikipedia Definition, paraphrased)...Pura Vida, literally translated means "Pure Life" but means contextually something approximate to "Full of Life", "Purified life", "This is living!" It can be used as a greeting, as a word of farewell, to express satisfaction...Costa Ricans use the phrase to express something akin to a philosophy of...enjoying life slowly and celebrating good fortune of magnitudes small and large alike.

Forty Years!!!
This past weekend we went home to celebrate my parents' 40th Wedding Anniversary. I think we can all agree that in this day and age, staying married for 40 years - and still liking each other - is a true accomplishment.
It's not a party with out cake! We got this one at Dillon's, of course. You'll notice the napkins -- Mom managed to save these through so many moves for this special day! Shannon stayed up basically all night and made the most delicious BBQ for 60+ people! (Is there anything he can't do?!)
It's also not really a party unless we all line up and get our pictures taken. Here are the original seven Welches. :)
And here we are with our spouses, sig others, Grammy, aunties, doggies, and our very favorite special guests -- our exchange student Tobi and his little family -- Christine and Jonathan. Little Jonathan was pretty much the star of the show. Never wanting for an auntie or Grammy to love on him!!
Here is Papa with Uncle Cecil, Uncle Claude and Uncle Merle. We always joke that the Welch brothers look alike AND dress alike!!
Mom and Papa :)
The Pub Crawl in Aggieville was a success. We laughed because when we told them, the first thing Mom said was, "You're not going to make me drink, are you!?!?" Of course not -- the point was to just all go out and be together. We played a Maura and Lauren Trivial Pursuit Game, and otherwise just visited and had a great time. I am pretty sure the proprieters of the bars in Aggieville were pleasantly surprised to have the tamest Pub Crawlers ever!!
Welch kids being silly. It was a great weekend. Thanks to Tony, Megan, Shannon and Colin for making it all happen. And thanks to Lauren and Maura for giving us such a great reason to celebrate. And, as we like to say, "Thanks for having us!!!" (Ha ha.)

Lovely. Looks like a wonderful celebration.
ReplyDeleteMy parents celebrated 40 years in December. An amazing feat for sure. I think one of the best things for parents is to have their whole family around to celebrate with them. Looks like a great time!
