Pura Vida (Wikipedia Definition, paraphrased)...Pura Vida, literally translated means "Pure Life" but means contextually something approximate to "Full of Life", "Purified life", "This is living!" It can be used as a greeting, as a word of farewell, to express satisfaction...Costa Ricans use the phrase to express something akin to a philosophy of...enjoying life slowly and celebrating good fortune of magnitudes small and large alike.

Nelson
Getting caught up with the blog...once we're done with my parents' trip, we have to post Milford, Doubtful Sound, Wanaka (and Ryan!)...then we'll be up-to-date, at least for the trips and such...
Nearing the final stretch of my parents' and the Gilberts' trip - We convinced them to come to Nelson on the South Island to see Abel Tasman National Park and some of the fantastic things the S. Island has to offer. (It's gorgeous!) After staying the night in Welly, it's only a 30 minute flight from Welly to Nelson. We arrived around 9 am, with plenty of time for the youngsters to go for a run and the grown-ups to go for walks. After that, Patrick and I took Maura and Lauren to experience one of our favorite NZ pasttimes -- Wine tasting!! Here is Mom chosing dessert liquers for some of her partners. (We had to work really hard, tasting all sorts of wines and liquers so she'd have just the right thing... Rough job!)
We did a guided trip with Bay Tours (you can see us on their photos page!), since we didn't want to accidentally take them on a multi-hour non-wine-tasting-trip-in-the-rain like the Thiessens! Ha! But the Welches still got fish-and-chips for their wine-tour lunch, just like the Thiessens! Patrick and I had platters with cheeses/meats/olives/breads/dips -- we could have definitely split one!
